“It is absolutely essential that before we begin to think, before we so much as set our thinking in motion, we experience the condition of wonder”

                                             - Rudolf Steiner, Founder of Waldorf Education
A Waldorf-inspired morning program for 3-5 year-olds
Thursdays and Fridays from 9-12
In this program, your child is met with warmth and guided by loving hands through the predictable rhythm of our Waldorf-inspired mornings together:

  • The teachers strive to create a simple, homelike, beautiful environment worthy of the child’s imagination, the natural learning style at this age.

  • Through such activities as storytelling, puppetry, singing, poetry, painting and simple handcrafts, the teachers demonstrate joy in the goodness and beauty of the world.

  • Through their daily work, preparing nutritious snacks, making and repairing toys, cleaning and tidying the classroom, the children feel loved and cared for.  Within this protected space, the children are free to imaginatively and creatively express the world around them through their play, and to explore the beginnings of social relationships in a calm, safe and nurturing environment.

  • A deep love and caring for the earth and nature is modeled for the children, as ample time outdoors fosters each child’s own connection with the natural world.

  • We joyfully celebrate the daily, weekly and seasonal rhythms thereby giving the children healthy structures and routines in which to grow strong and confident in their world.

  • Together we will bake bread, share nourishment, build castles, feed babies, harvest vegetables and sing songs in a gentle inward and outward rhythm of repetition and reverence that will forge bonding friendships and give them the ability to do so well beyond these precious years.

A Note on “Learning”…

Here the young child’s imagination is nourished and encouraged to unfold, leading to an inner vitality which brings the capacity for dynamic, original thinking, and a readiness to embrace learning in the primary grades.  Unlike today’s mainstream preschools that emphasize early learning and encourage a “head-start” with academia, the Waldorf method seeks to prepare the child for his or her academic journey by embracing the dream world of early childhood and nurturing the child’s imagination.  In so doing, the coming school years will be met with an unequaled foundation of creativity and freedom that will bring the children forth with ready energy for the challenges and rigors of our modern world.

“If the young child has been able in his play to give up his whole loving being to the world around him, he will be able in the serious tasks of later life to devote himself with confidence and power to the service of the world.”
